Our Story

 

Hi! Welcome to LAYR! I am Jin Jie and I would love to share my story with you.

As a working mom who exclusively pumps, I was drowning in bags.

Every day, I'd juggle multiple bags - one for my pump, another for bottles, a cooler for milk storage, plus my regular work bag. My office setup was chaos. Everything was scattered, overstimulating, and frankly... exhausting.

I'd watch other moms fumble with the same juggling act, digging through bags to find pump parts while their milk sat warming up. We were all making it work, but barely. And I kept thinking: There has to be a better way.

The "What If" Moment
What if one bag could do it all? What if pumping moms didn't have to sacrifice organization for convenience, or style for function?

That question wouldn't leave me alone.

The work in progress/journey
The idea for LAYR started with a simple frustration: I wanted a bag I could use every single day, without compromise.

But reality is messy. Some days I need to carry pumped milk or lunch — other days I don’t. Sometimes spills happen, and I don’t want to wait days for a bag to dry after a full wash.

That’s when the concept clicked:

A removable ice bag for when you need it, and gone when you don’t.
A washable lining so you can refresh your bag in minutes, not days.
A detachable system inspired by cargo pants — functional, modular, and built to adapt to your life.

For two months, I dove deep into research and development. I studied materials, tested dimensions, and obsessed over every detail. The biggest challenge? Creating a detachable cooler system that would fit perfectly without compromising the bag's sleek profile or functionality.

Every measurement had to be precise. Every feature had to serve a purpose. Because pumping moms don't have time for "almost works" - we need solutions that actually work.

The Vision
My goal isn't just to organize your pump gear (though we definitely do that). It's to help pumping moms feel empowered.
